F1 POWERBOAT or F1H2O held on Lake Toba, North Sumatra, is expected to introduce the destination and all the potentials owned by the surrounding communities.
Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, stated the Lake Toba Formula 1 Powerboat World Championship (F1H20), was successfully held in Balige, North Sumatra on February 24-26, 2023, and has proven capable of providing a multiplier effect for the surrounding community.
Deputy Minister Angela after watching the 1 F1 Powerboat race in the Muliaraja Napitupulu Harbor area and Sisingamangaraja Field, Balige, Sunday (Feb 26) stated that it was the first F1H2O event brought the name of Lake Toba to the world.
The success of the international event is believed to provide a multiplier effect not only in terms of the name Lake Toba which is increasingly known to the world, but also for the economy of the people around Lake Toba which has been designated by the government as a Super Priority Destination.
F1 Powerboat itself was enjoyed by 180 million pairs of eyes through various media including social media, broadcasting, and so on. Through the most prestigious motorboat racing event in the world, Lake Toba is expected to become an international conversation.
During the opening ceremony, various customs and cultures were displayed, starting from the Tor-Tor dance along with Ulos traditional cloth performed by students around the City of Balige. Additionally, there was also Si Gale-Gale who also appeared in front of President Joko Widodo and the ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.
Attractions from the Jupiter Aerobatic Team also enlivened the sky in Balige City that afternoon. After that, there was also a Batak-blooded Capital City artist, Lea Simanjuntak, who entertained guests and tourists in the main stands with her golden voice.
“I have confidence this event is only the beginning of various other major events on Lake Toba which will improve the welfare of local communities and awaken local MSMEs with their creative products,” added Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo.
Lake Toba has tremendous potential with natural beauty that tourists can enjoy, such as mountains, its borders, and various culinary tours. She also hoped, with the success of the event on Lake Toba as one of the Super Priority Destinations in Indonesia, more tourists will come to visit and be able to increase development and investment in the region.
