HAPPY World Environment Day June 5th! Every small action we take, such as planting trees and reducing plastic waste, will have a big impact. Related to the World Environment Day, Villa Kayu Raja (VKR) Seminyak together with Paiketan Krama Bali, Bali Villa Association (BVA), Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Badung, and Indonesian Hotel General Manager Association (IHGMA) of Bali Chapter commemorated it in the Lake Buyan area.

In order to commemorate World Environment Day falling every June 5th, the management and Tri Hita Karana team of Villa Kayu Raja Seminyak held an environmental service activity in the Lake Buyan area, Buleleng. The activity was filled with environmental cleaning actions and planting endemic trees according to the direction of the Buleleng Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) represented by Mr. Ketut Moni.

Prior to carrying out such environmental action, all participants together performed prayers at Parhyangan Ida Betari Sri and Betari Danu at the local temple located on the shores of Lake Buyan. The religious atmosphere was so palpable amidst the cold and cool air, the gentle mountain breeze, and the light drizzle that accompanied the activity. The spiritual moment coincided with the Holy Day of full moon of the twelfth month in Balinese calendar and Tumpek Krulut, which is a manifestation of the implementation of the Tri Hita Karana concept, especially the Parhyangan aspect (harmonious relationship with the Creator).

The activity also involved the staff of Everyday Hotel Kuta Central Park, and received full support from Paiketan Krama Bali, PHRI Badung, Bali Villa Association (BVA), and IHGMA of Bali Chaper. This cross-association collaboration also coincided with the celebration of eighth anniversary of Paiketan Krama Bali on June 1 and the 23rd Anniversary of the Bali Villa Association (BVA) falling on May 28.

As the initiator of the activity, Gede Ricky Sukarta—who also serves as the General Division of Paiketan Krama Bali, Secretary of PHRI Badung, Advisory Board of IHGMA of Bali Chapter, and Founder and Advisor of BVA—stated that the activity is part of the real efforts of Balinese tourism people in maintaining the sanctity of nature and environmental balance, in line with the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana.

In addition to cleaning and planting trees, the team also released birds as a symbol of nature conservation and the freedom of wildlife in their natural habitat. The entire series of events reflects the holistic implementation of Tri Hita Karana: Parhyangan (relationship with God), Pawongan (relationship between humans through cross-association collaboration), and Palemahan (harmonious relationship with nature through real action to preserve the environment).

“As a tourism industry player who serves guests in hotels and villas every day, we are aware of the importance of maintaining the balance of Bali’s nature as a world heritage. Through this action, we do not only commemorate World Environment Day, but also realize the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana in our daily lives,” said Gede Ricky Sukarta.

With this activity, it is hoped that Bali tourism people can continue to be the vanguard in realizing sustainable and regenerative tourism for a greener, more sustainable, and more harmonious Bali. Protect nature, protect the future. (PR-VKR)
