- CELEBRATING the 77th Anniversary of the Indonesian Independence this year, Bank of Indonesia issued 7 new banknotes that commemorate national heroes
- In addition to heroes, the new banknotes also feature a variety of Indonesian cultures and its tourist destinations
In conjunction with the celebration of the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, Bank Indonesia issued 7 new banknotes with an Emission Year of 2022. All of these banknotes were designed with the same color nuances but brighter than previous issuance years.
More interestingly, in addition to immortalizing the figure of a national heroes, the new banknotes also show the cultural diversity of Indonesia. There are biodiversity, culture (in this case regional dances), the flora of the archipelago and Indonesia’s tourist destinations.
Broadly speaking, on the front side are displayed figure of national hero and the national symbol of Garuda Indonesia, the wealth of flora and several Indonesian motifs. The diversity of Indonesia’s wealth that can become an Indonesian tourist attraction is shown on the back. Here are the seven new banknotes with an issue year of 2022.
IDR 100,000 denomination
The front side shows the main image in the form of the Proclaimer of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. (H.C.) Ir. Soekarno and Dr. (H.C.) Drs. Mohammad Hatta.
The back side shows the typical Betawi Mask Dance (Greater Jakarta), the natural beauty of Raja Ampat (West Papua), and is embellished with the beauty of the Moon Orchid Flower known as Floral Charm.
IDR 50,000.00 denomination
The main image on the front is the National Hero of the Republic of Indonesia Ir. H. Juanda Kartawidjaja. Meanwhile, at the back there is the Legong Dance (Bali) which is coupled with the natural beauty of the Komodo National Park (NTT) and the elegance of the Frangipani of Bali.
IDR 20,000.00 denomination
The main image on the front shows the National Hero of Dr. G.S.S.J. Ratulangi. Then, on the back side is the Gong Dance (East Kalimantan) which is coupled with the natural beauty of Derawan (East Kalimantan) and the elegance of the Black Orchid Flower.
IDR 10,000.00 denomination
The National Hero of the Republic of Indonesia Frans Kaisiepo is shown as the main image on the front. Then, on the back is the Pakarena Dance (South Sulawesi) which is paired with the natural beauty of the Wakatobi National Park (South-east Sulawesi) and the elegance of the Champak Flower of the Rough Forest.
IDR 5,000.00 denomination
The front shows the National Hero of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. K.H. Idham Chalid. While on the back there is the Gambyong Dance (Central Java) which is side by side with the natural beauty of Mount Bromo (East Java) and the elegance of the Tuberose Flowers.
IDR 2,000.00 denomination
On the front, this banknote features the National Hero of the Republic of Indonesia Mohammad Hoesni Thamrin. While at the back, there is the Plate Dance (West Sumatera) which is coupled with the natural beauty of the Sianok Canyon (West Sumatera), and the elegance of the Jeumpa Flower.
IDR 1.000,00 denomination
Finally, the front side of the Rp 1,000.00 banknote displays the National Hero of the Republic of Indonesia, Tjut Meutia. While the back shows the Tifa Dance (Papua and Maluku) coupled with the natural beauty of Banda Neira (Maluku) as well as the beauty of the Larat Orchid Flower.
