COOLNESS and bird’s song are two impressions when entering the Wanagiri village in Sukasada subdistrict, Buleleng (North Bali). When coming from Denpasar to Singaraja, simply turn left on the intersection right at monkey’s point, peak of the hill.
Then, turn right before the SMP TP 45 junior high school as the signage posted at roadside. Riding or driving along some descending road sections, you will see rare settlements because local homes spread across some ridges and located away from one another.
As typical views on highlands in Bali, your eyes will be pampered by various plantations like hybrid coffee, clove, tangerine, albizia trees or even cabbage and other vegetables. It is just like exploring Balinese village in the past, a pristine village being away from hustles and bustles as well as the roaring sound of machines.
Having covered the distance of some 3 km, you will arrive at the location of Pucak Manik waterfall. It is a newly opened waterfall managed by young generation of local hamlet under guidance of Wanagiri tourism awareness group (Darwis).
After buying entrance ticket, you can start the adventure of admiring surrounding nature through a concrete trail commonly used by local people to their plantation. On the right side is state-owned tropical forest while on the left is coffee plantation and albizia trees that will surely exude fresh air. This adventure is just like re-charging your lungs with fresh air.
When arriving at a creek, cross the small bridge and just turn right. You must take a slightly climbing path for some 100 meters. There, you will find the waterfall having clear and fresh water. According to the staff of waterfall management, the water is stable throughout the season. To take a rest, you can have a seat at the edge of the hole. Around the approximately fifteen meters high waterfall, you can see typical vegetation of tropical forest like cyathea fern tree and large trees.
If you want to find more waterfalls and explore the charms of surrounding nature, the management offers you two packages, namely medium and long distance trekking. When completely develop, there may be totally twelve waterfalls.
