EASTERN part of Bali like Karangasem offers many pristine charms to be explored. One of which is Sidemen subdistrict. If you want to find tranquil and rural atmosphere, this can be your traveling option.

You can start your journey from Paksebali village, in the east of Semarapura town. Road section has been very smooth and not too busy. But be always careful because it is also the route of trucks hauling sand. Few kilometers northwards, you will find the overlays of green paddy field on the left side, while on the right is a hill. Far in the west also sits a verdant hill, so the scenery looks so beautiful.

Though irrigation water is available throughout the year, local farmers still strictly do rotation by planting paddy and crops. Their crops include corn, string bean, peanut, garden balsam, chili et cetera. If you want to explore the spreads of paddy field, here is one of the appropriate destinations.

When the weather is fine, everything will be clear, whether paddy fields, hills, river valley or Mount Agung. One point where you can see the mountain clearly is in the west of Sidemen Market by following the road section to the river nearby. Here the settlement is rare and still spreads paddy field. Along winding road, you will see green moors and paddy fields.

Some tourism supporting facilities have been available on the road section toward Sidemen Market or surrounding areas. There are  restaurants and villas around the area and in the west of Sidemen Market, on the way to Unda River.

Around the Sidemen Market, there are also some weaving centers and art shops of endek and songket fabrics. These fabrics have become the main handicraft products of this region. Have a nice day!
