AWESOME parade of the BAF or Bali Arts Festival 2025 opening made the city of Denpasar, precisely in front of the Bajra Sandi Monument, Renon, lively. This reaffirms the position of the Island of the Gods as a cultural center. Thousands of pairs of eyes, both local residents and foreign tourists, have filled the area around the Bajra Sandi Monument since noon, enthusiastically awaiting the magnificent opening parade.
Expressions of hope were also expressed, awaiting the stunning art performances. On the stage of honor, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, accompanied by Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, as well as other functionaries officially released the art parade related to the opening of the BAF 2025 which carried the theme: Jagat Kerthi: Lokahita Samudaya (Harmony of the Universe). Their presence symbolizes the government’s dedication to preserving and promoting Bali’s priceless intangible heritage.
Accompanied by the beating of the kulkul (wooden split drum), the parade began. One by one, art ambassadors from eight districts and one city in Bali paraded, presenting a living representation of the diversity and cultural richness of each region in accordance with this year’s theme. Each contingent displayed distinctive costumes, music, and dance movements.
The dancers paraded gracefully, occasionally throwing smiles at the audience. The strains of gamelan music flowed serenely, combined with the beating of drums that raised spirits. The aroma of flowers and incense smoke added to the magical atmosphere. Foreign tourists continued to capture every moment, hypnotized by the colorful costumes, the precision of their movements, and the energy of the artists. Their enthusiasm did not fade even though the sun began to lean to the west, as if they were carried away by the endless charm of the parade.
The parade ended near dusk with thunderous applause, leaving a deep impression on everyone who witnessed it. The opening of BAF 2025 taking place on June 21-July 19, is not just an event, but a real manifestation of the Balinese soul that never fades: the spirit of preserving, celebrating, and sharing the beauty of culture with the world. Amidst the hustle and bustle of modernization, BAF remains a solid anchor, reminding us of the importance of cultural roots in shaping the nation’s identity. (*)
