BUNG Karno Park, a beautiful and lush town park, is located on the outskirts of Singaraja, precisely in Sukasada Subdistrict, Buleleng. This park in Northern Bali is a favorite tourist destination for local people and tourists aspiring to find tranquility, enjoy natural beauty and get to know the history of national figures.
History and Beauty of the Park
Built in 2016, Taman Bung Karno or Bung Karno Park Singaraja has high historical value because as the name suggests, Taman Bung Karno or Bung Karno Park, is taken from the name of a national figure who was also the first president of the Republic of Indonesia, namely Soekarno, who is more familiarly called Bung Karno. So, what does this have to do with Singaraja? Bung Karno’s biological mother came from Singaraja City.
This park is designed as a thematic park that carries the concept of ‘culture-based history and ecology.’ Combined with beautiful landscaping planted with ceremonial plants which are widely used in Hindu ritual ceremonies in Bali.
Some dancing fountains as well as eight statues of the Singa Ambara Raja (the symbol of Singaraja City) decorate the front area of Bung Karno Park. Likewise, various flora in the form of flowers and shady trees decorate this park area so that it becomes shady and looks artistic, which ultimately creates a comfortable atmosphere for visitors.
The main part of this park is the area where the Bung Karno Statue is located, its location is lower than the outside area. However, the base of the statue was made higher so that it is very visible from the road. On the pedestal or base there are quotes from Bung Karno’s sayings along with reliefs that tell stories about Bung Karno’s history.

Bung Karno Park in Singaraja, which is designed as a recreation and historical tourism park, is equipped with various facilities that can be enjoyed by visitors, such as:
- Jogging track—a comfortable jogging path for exercising and enjoying fresh air in the morning or afternoon. Besides, there are also art shops or art kiosks, wantilan or multi-purpose hall.
- The open stage with circular seating for art performances, cultural festivals and other activities is uniquely designed and refers to the symbol of Singaraja town, namely Singa Ambara Raja or the winged lion. This lion figure has become a striking icon because it is given an emphasis with golden colors.
