QUIETLY located in southern part of Bali, the Dreamland Beach is rather newly developed tourist destination. By car, it is about 45 minutes away from Kuta tourist resort or 30 minutes from the Ngurah Rai Airport. Exactly, this beach sits at Pecatu village.
From Jimbaran direction, before the Dreamland Beach you will encounter the GWK, highlighting the Lord Vishnu statue that spreads in a magnificent cultural park. To reach the beach, visitors must pass through the area of Bali Pecatu Graha. At glance, you will feel something different from the common view of Bali. On the left and right side spread the side hill cuts.
Arriving on the beach, you will be faced with the overlay of beautiful white sandy beach. As the background, the limestone cliff seems to become the wall of the beach. At the right time, the waves are good enough for surfing, strolling, sun bathing and watching sunset. It is an alternative beach after Kuta.
Why is it named dreamland? Originally, the area was a barren limestone that would be transformed into the greatest and most unique tourist resort project in Southeast Asia. Besides, it would also be equipped with super luxurious resort highlighting the genuineness and beauty of nature.
Unfortunately, as hit by monetary crisis in 1998 the megaproject was dormant. Local people hoped the project could be accomplished as expected so they could shift profession from farming to tourism business. So, the land has given them a dream of a better life.
Nevertheless, some tourism facilities have gradually been built today in the area such as international restaurant, golf course, family water park and tourist accommodation. Have a nice holiday!
