TODAY the Pasih Uwug or tourists prefer to call it Broken Beach in Nusa Penida has become one of the popular destinations frequented by domestic and foreign tourists when enjoying a vacation on the Island of the Gods.
As the name suggests, Pasih Uwug (Balinese) or broken beach is an expression to describe the geographical condition of the beach which is semicircular and confined at the base of a cliff. It makes a natural pool as well as an awesome viewpoint. On one side of the cliff, there is a large cavity connecting the beach to the open sea on the outside.
As a result of being eroded by seawater in a long period of time, the cliff has a hole and forms a tunnel. On that account, from above the rock, the hole underneath will look like an artistic connecting bridge. The view is quite amazing and beautiful, and the beach is untouched.
The journey to this location is indeed rather difficult and challenging. Seeing this natural condition, it should not be recommended for children or adults who have problems with their health for the sake of safety.
Nevertheless, the view does not disappoint. Just try to wear comfortable shoes with a good footprint because some terrains can be slippery during the rainy season.
If you’re lucky, from one side of this beach you will be able to see a group of manta rays swimming along the cliff side. Absolutely, it is an amazing sight because the size of manta rays can reach 24 feet in this region! This landmark of Nusa Penida will be a heaven of photographers.
Nusa Penida Island itself is an island belonging to the territory of the Nusa Penida subdistrict and part of the Klungkung district in Bali mainland separated by the Badung Strait. Around this island, there are also other small islands such as Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan.
Nusa Penida has a lot of tourism potential that needs to be developed further where its nature still looks beautiful. Perhaps, this condition is similar to the condition of mainland Bali in the 1970s where the scenery remained to look beautiful and has not been touched by many concrete buildings.

To reach Nusa Penida, travelers can take fast boat transportation services that are available in almost every harbor in Bali, such as Serangan Harbor, Sanur Harbor (Denpasar) and Padangbai Port (Karangasem). The operation hours are open from 07:00 to 17:00 and vice versa.
